Life Science: Biology/AP Psychology Leave Replacement anticipated January 2026 through March 2026

Bellmore-Merrick CHSD is seeking a dedicated and qualified Leave Replacement Science Teacher for a temporary assignment anticipated to begin in January 2026 and continue through March 2026. Please note there is a possibility that the start date may be as early as late November 2025.

Teaching Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a program that includes: Regents Biology (multiple sections), including one Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) section, and AP Psychology (multiple sections).

Permanent Substitute TeachersPerm Sub 2025-2026

Permanent Substitute Teachers - Must be secondary certified 7-12 

Per-Diem Substitute TeachersPer-Diem Subs 2025-2026

Per-Diem Substitute Teachers available. Candidate must be secondary certified.

  • Create lesson plans, assignments, and curriculum for each student, and ensure they meet state guidelines
  • Provide direct and indirect instruction to students in a variety of settings, including at home, in a classroom, or in a library
  • Prepare students for required assessments, and conduct formal and informal assessments of student progress
  • Create a positive environment, and meet students' individual needs
  • Help students reach their educational goals, and mentor them
  • Communicate concerns with administration and/or school teacher
