Probationary English Teacher (1 High School, 1 Middle School)

Position Summary:
The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District is seeking dynamic, student-centered English teachers for one high school and one middle school probationary position. Ideal candidates will have experience fostering a love of reading and writing, differentiating instruction for diverse learners, and integrating literacy strategies across the curriculum.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned English lessons for students in grades 7-12
- Assess and support student learning through formative and summative assessments
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administration to support student success
- Participate in professional development and school initiatives
- Support a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Certification in English (7-12) required
- Certification or training in Literacy and/or TESOL preferred
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Experience integrating technology into instruction is a plus
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Start Date: Anticipated – August 26, 2026
