Job Description

The Bellmore-Merrick CHSD is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Earth & Space Science teacher to serve as a leave replacement. The successful candidate will join a supportive science department and teach a full program that includes both general education and Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classes.

General Responsibilities

• Teach Earth & Space Science courses aligned with New York State Learning Standards along with an elective science course.

• Provide instruction in both general education and ICT settings in collaboration with a special education co-teacher.

• Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that support student learning and inquiry.

• Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.

• Implement accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs in ICT classes.

• Assess and document student progress; communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

• Participate in department meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.

Job Qualifications

• Valid New York State Certification in Earth Science (7–12) required.

• Experience with ICT or co-teaching models preferred.

• Strong content knowledge and ability to differentiate instruction.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
