Job Description

NYS Certification:

• English (7-12) - Required
• TESOL (or in the process of acquiring certification)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement lesson and unit plans that align with New York State Learning ELA Standards and address the language needs of ELLs.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to support language development and content understanding.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students at varying levels of English proficiency.
• Assess students’ English language proficiency and academic progress using standardized assessments and formative evaluations.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student performance and progress.

• Provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school personnel regarding student progress.

• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment 
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel to develop and implement instructional strategies that meet the needs of ELLs.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ENL education and language acquisition.
• Serve as a resource and advocate for ELLs within the school community.

 

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification in English and teaching TESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages)
