Qualifications:

 

  1. Appropriate New York State Certification required – SAS or SBL
  2. Energetic and enthusiastic leader
  3. Strong communication and organization skills
  4. Knowledge of secondary student development

General Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Leadership:
    • Provide leadership to and supervision of the counseling/wellness clerical team and PPS (Pupil Personnel Services) staff (school counselors, psychologists, and social workers)
    • Administrative supervision of other departments as assigned by the principal
    • Serve as a member of the principal’s cabinet
    • Assist the principal in developing and/or maintaining an effective school-community relations program appropriate for the high school
    • Assist the principal in developing, maintaining and communicating building procedures to staff, parents and students
    • Lead all PPS meetings and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities for PPS staff
    • Coordinate AP, SAT, PSAT and ACT testing program
  2. Master Schedule Management:
    • Develop and manage the master schedule for the school, ensuring it meets the needs of students and complies with district policies
    • Collaborate with department chairpeople to allocate teaching assignments and classrooms effectively
    • Work with counselors to address and resolve scheduling conflicts, ensuring that all students have access to required courses
  3. Support Services and Crisis Management:
    • Oversee the implementation of comprehensive counseling and wellness programs that support student academic, social, and emotional development
    • Coordinate with external agencies and district/community resources to provide additional support for students and families
    • Help lead the school’s response to crises involving students, including mental health emergencies, disciplinary issues, and other urgent situations
    • Implement crisis intervention plans and protocols
  4. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Manage and organize all grade reporting
    • Assist in completing state or federal data reports
